The remaining 15% ownership will be divided among smaller partners, including Kansai Electric, Panasonic, and West Japan Railway, indicating a strong collaboration in the development of the integrated resort.
CEO’s Positive Outlook
CEO Bill Hornbuckle expressed confidence in the project’s success, comparing it to Las Vegas Sands’ iconic Marina Bay Sands property in Singapore. He mentioned that MGM Osaka IR is already fully designed, reducing the likelihood of major cost changes during construction.
Hornbuckle also highlighted the company’s efforts to be cost-efficient, stating, “Together with our partners, we’re going to be looking as we go forward for opportunities to be as cost-efficient as possible in the construction.”
Regarding potential variability in input costs, MGM has hedged over 50% of its commitment in the forward yen market to secure favorable exchange rates. Despite these challenges, the company remains committed to completing the MGM Osaka integrated resort on time, with a planned opening in 2030.

Hornbuckle expressed optimism about the resort’s future success, suggesting that it could surpass Marina Bay Sands due to Japan’s larger population and the casino’s planned extensive offerings. With twice the number of slot machines compared to its Singapore counterpart, MGM Osaka is poised to attract a significant number of visitors.
